It is with great sadness that the officers and active members of the Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company announce the passing of Trustee Jerry Lee Walker.
Jerry Walker, 45 of Schuylkill Township, died over the weekend at home.
Jerry was the VFVFCo. Social Trustee and a great friend to all. He worked as a IT Project Manager at Vanguard Financial until his passing.
Jerry Walker was born May 3, 1966 to George E. and Barbara Walker in Newfield, New York. After graduating high school, Jerry obtained his B.S. in Physics in 1989, from Ithaca College before earning his M.S. in Computer Science from Villanova University.
Jerry first worked in Washington D.C., in the aerospace and defense industry before settling in the Philadelphia area, working first for Martin Marietta/GE AeroSpace and then for Vanguard in the IT/Buisiness Services department.
Jerry was an high school and college athlete and scholar. Post academia, Jerry was an avid golfer, softball player and overall enthusiast of all sports, who enjoyed the Phillies, Flyers and Sixers.
Surviving are his two brothers, George and Dennis, both from Colorado.
Services for Jerry will be held Wednesday March 28, 2012 in Spencer, N.Y.. The viewing will be held at 1pm followed by a service at 3pm at the Allen Manzer Funeral Home. The burial will take place at the La Rue (Row) Cemetary.
A Life Celebration will be held at the Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Co., hosted by family and friends, Saturday March 31, 2012 at 7 pm.
