Just as the morning rush started, Valley Forge Fire and EMS from Tower Health and Paoli Ambulances were alerted to an accident with entrapment on Valley Forge Rd in the area of the dam. Captain 2 (Berwyn) was in the area and reported two vehicles involved with one trapped. Chief 68 arrived, established command and confirmed one occupant trapped and an additional occupant confined.
Engine 68-1 arrived and deployed struts to secure the box truck involved, as well as, cribbing to secure the passenger vehicle. The extrication of both occupants was complete in less than 20 minutes. Both occupants were assessed by EMS on scene with only one being transported to an area hospital.
Route 23 was closed for approximately one and half hours while crews worked to clean up the scene.
